Proposed Route Changes for July 2018

May 7, 2018

Proposed Route Modifications

Grand Valley Transit (GVT) makes service changes to our system to meet the diverse travel needs of the communities we serve, budgetary challenges, public requests, and changes in ridership. These factors were assessed in the GVT 1-10-Year Strategic Plan that concluded in April; click here to read it. Results suggest modifications will improve reliability and travel time, enhance customer satisfaction, and increase ridership while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

A map of the proposed changes can be viewed online here and in person at the Downtown and West Transfer Facility pass lobbies. A written list of proposed modifications to each route is provided below, it can also be downloaded by clicking here.

GVT invites public feedback to help shape the final route configuration. Comments on the proposed modifications will be accepted until June 8, 2018.

Comments are welcomed in three ways:

  • email your comments to grandvalleytransit@mesacounty.us
  • submit hand-written comments to pass office staff
  • attend the open house on Tuesday, May 15 from 8:00am to 5:00pm at 525 S. 6th St. (Downtown Transfer Facility) in the 2nd floor conference room

Route modifications will go into effect on Monday, July 30, 2018.

Route 12

GVT is faced with increased cost of service leading up to the minimum wage increase in 2020. Route 12 has the lowest ridership and highest cost per passenger of all GVT routes; therefore Route 12 will be eliminated. GVT is attempting to serve Route 12 stops on alternative routes, see the details above for stops that will be served by other routes. However, those stops that cannot be covered by another route must be eliminated. Route 12 stops that will be eliminated include:

Redlands Dial-A-Ride

Due to low ridership, GVT will not accept new Dial-A-Ride passengers beginning January 1, 2019. Those who are currently using the service and those who join the service prior to December 31, 2018 will have the ability to continue using the Dial-A-Ride service in 2019.
